Ottanta Venti

Packaging and brand design for a true Italian-style coffee blend

Project summary

Ottanta Venti is a new brand from one of Hungary’s oldest coffee roasters, focused on classic Italian-style coffees and aimed at those returning from third-wave trends to more traditional flavors. With few progressive Italian-style brands in Central Europe, the design had the advantage—and challenge—of expressing heritage without clichés. The identity blends nostalgia with a bold modern presence, evoking the feeling of enjoying a rich coffee on a lively Italian café terrace. A custom logotype combines a strong, robust typeface with a lighter, playful handwritten style, paired with the Aperçu (Colophon Foundry) grotesque sans-serif for packaging. The name refers to the 80–20 ratio, also reflected in a graphic pattern used across the brand. Illustrations of Otto and Gatto add personality, while familiar packaging formats ensure practicality and strong shelf distinction.
